NME is massively excited to reveal the nominations for the NME Awards 2013.

The Awards, which will take place on Wednesday, February 27 in its new home at London's Troxy will honour new bands, cult heroes and rock legends across 22 different categories voted for by music fans.

The Rolling Stones lead this years' nods with nominations in four categories ('Best Live Band,' 'Best Book', 'Music Moment of The Year', 'Best Music Film') while two never before nominated acts Tame Impala and Haim have also bagged four nominations.

M.I.A. is also up for four awards - ('Best Track', 'Best Music Video', 'Best Dancefloor Anthem', 'Best Twitter' despite only releasing one single since the last NME Awards

Speaking to NME in this week's magazine, which will be availavle on newsstands from Wednesday (January 23) or available digitally, Mick Jagger says: "It's very nice to be nominated. When I first heard it was four things, I thought, 'Ooh, blimey! That's very nice!'" And it’s not a journalists-only thing, it's not a coterie of closely-knit people choosing. It’s funny, because when we were rehearsing at Wembley arena last year, it was where we used to do the NME Pollwinners. We remembered, it was the first time we ever played 'Jumping Jack Flash', at one of those Pollwinners concerts!"

Also up for awards are Arctic Monkeys, David Bowie, The Maccabees, Biffy Clyro, Kasabian, Blur, Foals, Jake Bugg, Alt J.

Harry Styles and David Cameron will fight it out for the undesirable 'Villain Of The Year' award alongside Psy, Skrillex, Fred Macpherson and Azealia Banks while David Bowie, Bradley Wiggins, Pussy Riot, Barack Obama, Frank Ocean and Dave Grohl are all up for 'Hero Of The Year'.

NME editor Mike Williams says: "The NME Awards is the highlight of the music calendar and the most Rock’n’roll party of the year, so it’s incredibly exciting to see such a wide range of artists nominated this time around. Rightly so, all the early plaudits will go to Haim, Tame Impala, MIA and the legendary Rolling Stones who lead the way with four nominations each, but it¹s testament to the exquisite taste of the NME audience that artists as wide ranged as Frank Ocean, Jake Bugg, Pussy Riot and David Bowie are recognised too. To say it¹s shaping up to be a classic is a huge understatement!"
