The Postal Service could be set to reform. 

The long-standing rumours regarding the future of the US act were given extra life today (January 21) when the band's website was updated. The site now features nothing more than their logo and '2013', leading many fans to speculate that a reformation is on the cards. Though there is much excitement as to what any potential reunion could hold, fans seem to agree that new music is unlikely and that a tour and festival appearances seem more reasonable.

The Postal Service released their only album, 'Give Up', in 2003. A collaborative effort between Benjamin Gibbard of Death Cab For Cutie and Jimmy Tamborello of DNTEL, the pair barely toured their album upon its release but have seen the songs develop a cult status in the ten years since they called time on the project. The duo were so called as they used to send their respective parts for each song to one another by post while working on the album from different parts of America. 'Give Up' featured songs including their breakout hit, 'Such Great Heights'. 

Though there is little else to go on besides online rumours, many are hinting that a slot at Coachella this year seems likely following similar reformations from bands such as Death From Above 1979 and At The Drive In for the US festival.

In November 2012, Gibbard - who released his debut solo LP 'Former Lives' last year - claimed there were no plans to make a second album with The Postal Service. "I think people like the idea of a second Postal Service record better than they would like the second Postal Service record. It's the desire for something one can't have, the anticipation of possessing something is more fulfilling than actually having something," he said.

오랫동안 이어져왔던 그들의 재결합 루머는 밴드의 웹사이트에 업데이트된 로고로 2013년 그들의 컴백을 암시했다. 사이트는 현재 그들의 로고와 '2013'년이 적힌 배경 하나로만 꾸며져 있으며 팬들은 이를 보고 그들의 재결합을 기대하고 있다. 그들의 재결합 가능성을 보고 많은 기대가 있지만 팬들은 새로운 음악이 나오기보다는 투어나 페스티벌에 등장할 것이라는 예측을 하고 있다.
 
포스탈 서비스는 그들의 유일한 앨범인 'Give Up'을 2003년 발매했다. 벤자민 기바드의 데스 캠 포 큐티와 DNTEL의 지미 탬보렐로와 함께 콜라보레이션으로 작업했던 그들은 발매에 대한 투어는 열지 않았으며 10년동안 프로젝트에 작별 인사를 보냈다. 미국의 곳곳에서 다른 앨범을 작업하던 그들은 우편을 통해 그들의 곡에 대한 파트는 계속 보내왔다. 앨범 'Give Up'은 그들의 히트인 'Such Great Heights'를 수록했다.
 
온라인 상 루머는 계속되고 있지만 많은 팬들은 오는 코첼라 페스티벌에서 데스 프롬 어보브 1979 (Death From Above 1979)와 앳 더 드라이브 인 (At The Drive In)이 재결합하는 모습을 보이는 사실을 미루어 포스탈 서비스 또한 코첼라 페스티벌에서 함께 하는 모습을 보이지 않을까 하는 가능성을 가장 많이 두고 있다.
 
지난 2012년 11월, 솔로 앨범 'Former Lives'를 발매했던 기바드는 포스탈 서비스의 두번째 앨범에 대한 계획은 없다고 말했다. 그는, "내가 생각하기엔 사람들이 포스탈 서비스의 두번째 앨범보다는 두번째 앨범 발매 소식 아이디어 자체에 더 관심이 많은 것 같다"며, "그게 아마 사람들이 가질 수 없는 것 같다. 어떤 것을 소유하는 것에 대한 기대감이 사실상 가지는 것보다 더 만족스럽다"고 말했다.
